Tell us more about yourself:
What are your fitness goals?
I’ve always believed in looking good, and I know that looking good comes at a price, so I’ve always watched what I eat. Fortunate enough, I’ve always loved the gym and being active. And so, before I have goals for building muscle, or competing, staying healthy has been my focus.
Now that I know that I can compete, I have worked to be able to stand with the greatest in the industry.
Having said that:
1. I am working towards the South African Championships.
2. I am looking to obtain my colours to represent South Africa at the World Fitness Championships.
Any sporting / fitness achievements we should know about?
1. I was selected to be one of the professional dancers to train a celebrity and compete in Dancing With the Stars 2018 (South Africa).
2. I participated at the Arnold Classic Africa 2019, and placed third, and was elected to participate at the IFBB African Championships 2019 in Angola where I also placed third.
Why do you think you’re the USN Face of Fitness?
I believe that I am suited to be the USN Face of Fitness for 2019. As an athlete, as a dancer, and teacher, I find that there is an energy I carry. I am a force. Looking at me, you can’t deny the discipline, the consistency, the dedication, the drive. It is to the point that other up-and-coming female dancers in my industry look to me, emulate me, as they aspire to obtain and even surpass what I have laid before them. All of this, without intending it. I didn’t take up a career in dance for the purpose of inspiring others; I just am.
My lifestyle is gym, and dance. I chose what I love. My job, my career are not separate from my lifestyle. Even when I go for outings with friends, we tend to go hiking, or finding some new fitness craze and try it out. This is how I have fun as crazy as it seems.
I believe that, knowing that this lifestyle is an option, an alternative, that it can be fun, is fun, and having someone who lives it instead of using fitness and health as a means, is not only sustainable, but inspirational. Being healthy can be difficult, but it is so rewarding.
My name is Nombulelo Hlathi, and I am the Face of Fitness 2019 and beyond.
