I am a wife and mother of two beautiful kids. I am a co-owner of the only CrossFit Box in East London, as well as an instructor at Virgin Active – these two places are my happy places. They bring me so much joy. The people I get to help every day and see the changes happen within them is absolute soul food for me. I lived in the UK for 2 years prior to getting married, and that is where my love for fitness started – in a dark disco, vibing spin class – where I was sure I was going to die, but very soon became addicted. Once I moved back to South Africa, my heart had an urge to be in the fitness industry and to help people through exercise. Not long after that I was on stage giving classes at Virgin Active and, before I knew it, I had entered my very first CrossFit team competition. I have an absolute love and interest in the human body. I am forever amazed at all that it can do. I would love to be able to inspire and reach out to even more women and help them, even if just through inspiration to know that anything and everything is possible. To teach them that life is like a book, filled with many different chapters, and to enjoy each and every page of it.

How does fitness fit into your lifestyle?

Fitness is my lifestyle. I fully get to claim the quote: “Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life”. I absolutely love every minute, and live it every day! Be it at the CrossFit Box coaching classes, giving personal training sessions, or teaching classes at Virgin Active, I get to see the changes in the people I work with and that is such soul food and so rewarding. Using fitness (movement) as a way to keep my body healthy and free of injury is a huge bonus for me. I was able to prove specialists wrong after they wanted to fuse my spine due to degeneration of discs. I have been taught and learnt how to manage this through movement, yet again leaving me absolutely amazed by the human body. I have also taken on the flexible dieting approach of counting calories. I assist members with this too, and watching them reach their goals and even just being able to help educate them on the basic things in life, I just can’t get enough.  

What are your personal fitness goals?

My personal fitness goals are to always look and be healthy, to feel strong in my sport and to use fitness to my full advantage for better health. I strive to live by example, especially with being a co-owner of a CrossFit Box. A healthy body means a healthy mind as well, which always results in great workouts and great energy to give to others. I firmly believe in practicing what I preach to the best of my ability. I lead a healthy lifestyle now so that I may be able to lead a functional lifestyle for many years to come.
