What are your fitness goals?
I always strive to be the strongest version of myself, both mentally and physically. Those two qualities work hand in hand and are definitely interlinked, and the one definitely compliments the other. I always draw strength from real life and apply it to my training and vice versa. I want to be strong, fit and healthy enough to be able to run around with my children and grandchildren when I am 80 years old. The best way to ensure that you are fit and healthy in old age is to invest in yourself early on. Our bodies are capable of wonderful things, so I push mine by participating in mountain biking, climbing, strength training, powerlifting, and CrossFit. I believe in leading by example, so I strive to be the best version of myself. more specifically, I am to qualify to represent South Africa on the international powerlifting stage next year. Fitness is a moving target for me as I adjust, reassess and refocus my goals when needed.
What sporting or fitness achievements should we know about?
I placed 14th in the Last Man Standing CrossFit Jukwaa event in 2016. I have participated in two in-house powerlifting competitions this year and placed 1st and 2nd, respectively. I will be competing at the Gauteng regional powerlifting meet on 18 August 2018, where I hope to qualify for SA’s. I’m writing my powerlifting referee exam in October and, if all goes well, I will be doing the official certification in powerlifting in Spain later this year.
Why do you think you’re the next USN Face of Fitness?
I lead by example. I live by my actions rather than just my words. If I commit to achieve something, I don’t quit until I succeed. I am so passionate about fitness, wellness, health and strength training that I recently left my own law practice to pursue a career in this industry, I am busy obtaining a life coaching certification, because I believe that everyone needs to have a healthy relationship with fitness and training. Physical training, fitness and being active has helped me through some really tough times, which is why I believe it is a gift that all of us need to unwrap, open and embrace. I approach my training through a method known as Power-Building, which has yielded amazing results for me. I wish to share my knowledge and educate others to help guide them on their fitness journeys. I am ready for this. I have committed myself fully to this journey and so far I have only excelled at it. I will be an asset to any brand and will embody the spirit of fitness, wellness and health.
