Tell us more about yourself
What are your personal fitness goals?
I value the importance of feeling good about myself. I believe that only you are in control of yourself and your destiny and that you always have a choice. Having a positive attitude towards myself ensures that I feel strong mentally and that ensures that I give 100% towards pursuing a healthy lifestyle combined with my love for fitness. It is important to me to be consistent with my pursuit of health and that ensures that as I keep the small promises I make to myself with regards to health and fitness that I experience the feeling of being strong, beautiful and empowered. This in turn helps me motivate others to be better every day than the previous day. I want to be the best version of myself. That best version to me is to be fit and strong enough to compete in my Crossfit competitions, to be able to encourage other woman to live their lives with passion and also to embrace what fitness will mean to them. I know we are all different and we need to celebrate that, however I also believe that fitness brings us together and that by choosing health you choose empowerment of yourself.
How will you use your #BiogenFaceOfFitness ambassadorship to inspire women to lead a healthy / fit lifestyle if you win?
The most important thing that I have learnt is never to compare yourself to others and to always be the best version of yourself. I truly believe that one should reflect that which you desire and become what you respect and mirror what you admire. We are all such unique women with different body shapes and types. My intention has always been to strive to be the best version of myself and inspire other women to embrace the same belief system. I want to achieve my goals and I want to motivate and inspire other women to achieve their own goals. At the end of the day we are what we repeatedly do and not what we say we will do. I want to live honestly and openly in my pursuit of my health and fitness goals and in the process encourage others to join me on the journey. I am passionate about wanting to inspire others through the reflection of my own lifestyle and show them that if you set realistic goals, enjoy the journey with it’s positive moments and it’s setbacks, you will be able to overcome your challenges and be proud of yourself in the process. One point I would love everyone to know about me is that I am a dedicated and committed woman who has never backed down from a challenge. I always finish what I start, and I have consistently over the years developed my drive for discipline and dedication. I have participated in Warrior races, SA-Cross country and daily training at our fitness and sport rehab centre. The lesson I want to teach others is that you can be “STRONG” in every chapter of your life and that there is a strength and beauty in our wins and struggles. I am fierce and not afraid to push myself to the limit, as I know when you believe you can you are already halfway there, and you can achieve anything through hard work and consistency.
I am driven, strong and a determined young woman who is focused and not afraid to give my all. Through it all I believe that you must always stay humble. I learnt that as a woman you should love yourself, be passionate about yourself and have confidence and always look after yourself. I am a kind, warm-hearted person who wants to make others feel good, build them up and tell them how worthy they are.
Tell us about your fitness lifestyle
My fitness lifestyle consists of physical, mental, and emotional fitness. My approach has always been holistic and based on the choices I make every day. The conscious choices you make daily lays the foundation for your mental and physical health and determine the quality of life you will lead. Keeping your promises and commitments that you have decided to make leads to emotional wellness and feelings of being proud, good enough and a better person. In the end you need to focus on keeping to your daily habits and that will bring you closer to the goals you want to achieve. That to me is shifting the paradigm away from the superficial “what we look like” and more to the importance of who we are at our core in our fitness and wellbeing journey’s. My focus is to train approximately 6 times a week. I do train 1-2 times a day and focus on one strength and conditioning workout and one conditioning and endurance workout. Both my sessions are functional HITT training and I am rather spoilt that my fiancé works with me in my programming. I also love running and throughout my life I have always participated in running events be it warrior “obstacle’’ races or cross-country races.
Why do you think you’re the Biogen Face of Fitness?
I entered the competition because I know that I have been called to induce a spark of joy in people’s lives. I want to leave a positive lasting impression on others and I want women especially to feel that “they are enough”. I chose this competition as my vehicle as I have loved watching the past contestants grow into themselves especially in their confidence and self-beliefs and I want to embrace that for myself and for other women. To me this competition is so much more than a Face of Fitness. It is a tribe of women that remind others to stop settling and to start living. That once you decide to end your “compromises” regarding your health and fitness and start showing up 100% for yourself and your goals and put in the work and pursue what you want – you will achieve your dreams. I believe that I can incorporate the Biogen Face of Fitness brand into my everyday lifestyle by living out the brand daily and spreading the good energy and word of Biogen. I want my passion and love for a fit and healthy lifestyle to be infectious and inspirational.
