My first love was art, so after school I ventured into Fashion Design and Illustration. I sensed a gap in the fitness market at this time but was not yet tainted but the love of fitness. I took some time off after studying to find out what I wanted to do with my education, so my brother gave me a gym membership for my 22nd birthday to keep me busy. Aside from joining the gym, I’ve been collecting Fitness mags since 2009! My first one was the Spring edition featuring Odette van der Merwe on the cover and until today, it is still one of my favourites! I used to look at the back for the show coverage and I was captivated by the bikini girls and was ignited with a drive to get on stage. I was fortunate enough to be featured twice in the mag in 2017 after competing, which only amplified my love for this magazine. I’ve been competing since 2016 and since then have made exercise and human movement my passion! My posing business was established in 2017 and is fortunately still growing every year. I fully established my PT services this year and make it my life’s mission to educate, inspire and give hope to ladies who walk into the gym and feel unsure or unworthy.

The body and mind is truly remarkable !
I believe life is about experiencing new things, beautiful places, discovering your true potential, creating new and unique things and sharing love and wisdom with others as well as treating each person as your ‘teacher’. I love sharing my energy and passion with others and hearing their inspiring stories. I love seeing my clients make small improvements every week, whether it’s acquiring scapular stability during plank reaches, core strength improvements, 5 seconds extra on a dead-hang or even managing an extra 5 minutes of cycling! Small victories to some are huge victories to others, and that keeps me doing what I do. I love anything outdoors and in the sun! Time with loved ones is irreplaceable. Without the constant and genuine love and support from my family, I would be aimless. They will always be at the top of my list.
How does fitness fit into your lifestyle?
I am a Personal and Online trainer and am currently studying to be an Exercise Specialist in Fitness and Health. The passion I have for achieving a healthy, strong body, is what I hope to exude to my clients. I love my work and my clients and their personal journeys and victories bring me so much joy! I enjoy cooking and making healthy food taste good. The funny thing is, I like variety and new foods, but I would have no issue eating practically the same range of foods every day but in slightly different manner. Another one of my key beliefs and what I try to teach my clients is, nutrient density and not calorie dense foods that leave you hungry, is crucial to achieving a sustainable, healthy physique. I’d prefer making a delicious, wholesome, nutrient-dense meal than eating one doughnut that tastes amazing but yields little to no nutritional benefit, but will leave me feeling super hungry afterwards. I train 4-5 days per week and I try to make every session count. Every day movements, functional training and core strength are key to my exercise programme. Active rest on the weekends happens outdoors. A nice hike in nature brings me so much joy.
What are your personal fitness goals?
To fully understand what my body is capable of through consistency, patience, the application of science and anatomy and a greater understanding of nutrition that not only nourishes the body, but improves performance and yields phenomenal results in the way of body composition. I think this year, I have made a leap in that direction. With the knowledge I am acquiring at HFPA as well as my own research and experience over the years, I took on a competition prep this year in May. It was tough, particularly mentally. I had a deep desire to do the NPC Muscle Mulisha GP5 show and went straight into it 6 weeks out. The process of preparing for this show taught me an immense amount about my body and mind. Although it was extremely tough, I wouldn’t change it for anything. It has become a part of who I am and has given me a new level of mental fortitude.
