What are your personal fitness goals?
My personal fitness goals have most certainly changed over the past few years. My main focus used to be my dancing, however, after being injured for months on end,I started to realize how important it is to focus on not only stretching but also strengthening your muscles. This was when I started to incorporate going to the gym into my fitness lifestyle. Every day my goal is to continue working on my strength and flexibility while also ensuring that I nourish my body correctly. After having struggled to gain weight pretty much my whole life, I have also made it a goal of mine to gain weight and build more muscle. I have most certainly come a long way and I will not stop here. Most importantly, I have learnt how fitness can not only improve your physical well-being but also your mental well-being, and therefore fitness has become so much more to me than just training to improve the way that I look.
How will you use your #BiogenFaceOfFitness ambassadorship to inspire women to lead a healthy / fit lifestyle if you win?
It would be an absolute honor to become the next #BiogenFaceofFitness for 2020. If I were to win Biogen Face of Fitness, my main focus would be to inspire women to become the best version of themselves by learning to love themselves for who they are, instead of trying to live up to the “standards” that have been set by society. I will use my own personal journey and what I have learnt with regards to living a healthy and fit lifestyle but focusing on your mental well-being at the same time. I have learnt how important it is to work towards your goals without always comparing yourself to those around you and I would like to inspire others to do the same. I am certain that if given the opportunity to represent and work with such incredible brands, together we will be able to uplift and inspire all the beautiful women around us and encourage them to believe in themselves and help them realize that they are capable of achieving anything that they set their minds to.
What health and fitness quote or mantra do you live by?
“You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit; it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done” – Rocky Balboa.
Tell us about your fitness lifestyle
Prior to lock down, I was training at the gym about 3-4 times a week. I focused on weight training while I was at the gym and did very little cardio due to the fact that I was dancing often. At the moment with no gyms being open, I have been a lot more committed to my at-home training. I aim to train about 4-5 days a week and ensure that stretching is included into my training. Although I only have a few weights and not much equipment, I have been focusing a lot on body weight training and then using the weights that I have for various exercises. Due to me not dancing for work anymore, I try to have at least 1 dance session at home just to add something different into my workout routine. I do have rest days when necessary, as I believe that pushing your body to a breaking point is not beneficial. It is of course important to push yourself and always remain consistent, but at the same time you need to acknowledge when it is time to give your body a break. Overall, I follow a healthy diet, making sure that I have my main healthy meals daily. I have also learnt that depriving yourself of anything and everything that may not be included in your healthy eating plan is not the way to go. I believe that everything should be done in moderation and therefore if I feel like a treat, then I will usually have it.
Why do you think you’re the Biogen Face of Fitness?
I am certain that many incredible women will be entering this competition, but I do believe that I have what it takes to become your 2020 Face of Fitness and know that I can represent what the Biogen and Fitness Mag brands stand for. I have a passion for promoting brands that I believe in, and both Biogen and Fitness Mag are top of my list. I strive daily to maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle, be the best version of myself and inspire others to do the same. Winning this prestigious title will open up so many more platforms for me to do so much more to help all women realize that they are worthy, regardless of what their body type may be or how old they are. I love the way Face of Fitness as a whole is continuously uplifting all women and it would mean the world to me to be able to work with them to carry on doing so!
